| For the third of these
inter-club fixtures, Shepreth AGC came to Hanging Grove with a
large team that included several first time HFTers. We hope that
these new shooters enjoyed the experience and that this will not
be their last visit to our club.
In all, 56 shooters started this
competition, but on what must have been the hottest day of the
year so far, the weather took its toll on some of the shooters
and/or their equipment and there were a few who did not complete
the course. However, I think that most enjoyed both the
competition and the weather and hopefully the company also.
The Shepreth team gave us a good
run for our money and whilst the scores were being totaled, there
were one or two concerned people in the clubhouse. The final
scores showed just how close it was, with both teams tied on 177.
This meant that each team had to elect a
member to represent
them in the shoot out for the team honors. Mark Lufkin shot for
Shepreth and James Huckle for Lea Valley, with James coming out
victorious.
It is also worthy of mention that
James Huckle, who is only 14 years old nominated to shoot in the
open class and not the junior class in this event and was successful
in winning that class also, again after a shoot out. Full
individual results can be viewed on the club HFT results page for
June.
Once again, we would like to extend
our thanks to the Shepreth team for making this such an enjoyable
event, and we look forward to the next round in the woods! |
