Hunter Field Target Training Day - 10 May 2008

We shall be holding a HFT training day for young shots and new members on Saturday 10 May 2008 between 10am and 4pm.

The day is aimed at providing shooters with the basic knowledge and skills required to compete in an HFT competition at club level. The course will cover safety, the rules, gun and sight set up, the importance of shooting groups in practice, shooting at varying distances on a fixed magnification and the standing, kneeling and prone shooting positions.

For further details and an application form, please e-mail John Dove. Spaces are limited, but we hope to see you there.

UK Spring Gun Championship 2008

Since its inception 2 years ago, this Championship has proved very successful even though we have restricted ourselves to 3 rounds all based at Lea Valley.

This year it has been decided to make it a bit more accessable to shooters further north and west by including 2 "away" rounds. Therefore, the competition will consist of 5 rounds with the best 3 scores to count to overall placing. It will be shot to UKAHFT guidlines with trophies awarded to 1st,2nd and 3rd in the three classes, Open,  .22 calibre  and Junior.

The entry fee will be £7, which will include the Bonus Bunny competition. There will be a grand draw at the end of the championship with our sponsor V-MACH supplying a prize. To be eligible for the draw you will need to of entered a minimum of 3 rounds.

A great opportunity to try shooting the spring gun or even a gas ram in competiton.

2008 FT Events

We will be hosting the 60 target Hertfordshire Open on a Sunday sometime during the summer months. There are a couple of issues that we need to resolve prior to announcing the actual date, so watch this space.

On October 11, after the club competition, there will be a meeting of all members interested in FT to decide the format for the Christmas shoot and to fix the FT competition calendar for 2009.

Pistol Range Days

You will probably have noticed that the club diary lists the fourth Saturday of each month as a Pistol Range Day. On these dates, Dave Mansfield has agreed to devote his time at the club to pistols and, with help from the membership, will set up a 10 metre target range, a small hunter course, and the speed plate timing equipment. In addition, the usual array of plinking targets will also be available.

Volunteers to help with the setting up and packing away are always appreciated.

Prospective New Members And Visitors To The Club - Important Notice

With effect from Saturday 24 September 2005, first time visitors will be required to bring along photo identification. This should be in the form of a passport or drivers license, but a shotgun or fire arms certificate would suffice, if one is held. Additionally, anyone wishing to become a member will be required to complete four attendances at the club as a visitor prior to any application being considered.

.

The Club's Insurance Cover - Important Notice

The club has recently renewed its membership of the NRA insurance scheme, as underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance. The committee feel it prudent to bring to members attention the fact that there are some restrictions on the level of cover provided under the Personal Accident [P.A.] section of this scheme. These restrictions are triggered by the age of the member, with no P.A. cover provided for those aged under 12 or over 75. Further, for those aged 12 to 14 inclusive, death benefits are reduced from £5,000 to £500 and there is no cover for Temporary Total Disablement from usual occupation.

A copy of the scheme documentation can be viewed in the library section of this site.

You are reminded that those under the age of 12 are required to have their own Public Liability insurance in place prior to commencing any shooting on the clubs ranges.

.

BASC Membership

LVAGC members can join the British Association of Shooting and Conservation at vastly reduced rates. Joining BASC gives you significant personal benefits including shooting insurance and legal support. Additionally, it ensures that you support the most effective lobby group for defending shooting in the UK. See the notice board in the clubhouse for rates or contact for more details.

Please see Roger or Paul if you would like to purchase one - they both have a large stock. Correct change appreciated.

They are priced at £3.00 each. Supplies are low, so get in quick before they all disappear.
